The prices I list on the blog are all taken from Amazon Fresh, so they don't include the savings from sales or coupons that can end up making the meals significantly cheaper. I almost always make the meals I list for $1/serving cheaper than what I list and you can too by using these three money saving tips! 1. Use Ibotta for cash back on your groceriesI use Ibotta to get cash back on all of my groceries to make each of my meals even cheaper! You have to reach $20 before you can cash out, but if you sign up using my referral link you'll get a $10 welcome bonus after your first redemption and you'll be halfway there. You can stack the cash back offers with in-store sales to get an even bigger "discount." Just today I saw a yogurt on sale for $1 that had a $1.25 rebate... that's right, I MADE $0.25 for buying the yogurt! Even on days where the app doesn't have any items you plan on purchasing, they often have an "any receipt" rebate, which gives you $0.25 just for uploading your receipt. The app is super simple, you just select the items you plan on purchasing and take a picture of your receipt as soon as you get home. They deposit the money into your PayPal, Venmo, or bank account. I've gotten $133 cash back so far this year! 2. Stock up during salesStock up on meats and certain produce items during sales, then store in your freezer until you need them. Chicken breast goes on sale from $5/lb to $2.50/lb about once every 6 weeks at my store, so I stock up when it's on sale and store anything I won't be using that week in the freezer. I also do this with high-value produce that freezes well, anything you can find in the freezer isle you can also freeze yourself in freezer bags! 3. Reduce wasteOne of the most important money-saving tips is to reduce food waste, which also reduces your environmental impact as decomposing food waste is a significant source of CO2. I try to plan all of my meals out in advance to make sure I'm not over-preparing food, but sometimes you go out to eat unexpectedly or something comes up! When that happens, I throw my already portioned meal in the freezer and have a homemade freezer meal for another day! I also do this with produce before it goes bad. I had a bag of kale I wasn't going to finish, so I stored it in a freezer bag and added it later to a pot of chipotle chicken. I normally wouldn't have purchased a bag of kale JUST to add to the chicken, but since I already had it in the freezer I was able to add some greens into my meal without spending any extra money!
